Outwardly Unimpressive

Isaiah 53:2   He shall grow up before Him as a tender plant, and as a root out of dry ground.
He has no form or comeliness; and when we see Him, there is no beauty that we should desire Him.

4-11-2013I was standing in the middle of Jerusalem yesterday as I was waiting to go for an appointment and as I looked around at this city of Jerusalem, I thought of how it really looks in the natural. It is not an impressive city. It has no streets of gold and nothing that would attract tourists here. There are no beaches, no really elegant restaurants, not even a really fancy hotel. Yet, I prefer this city above anywhere I have ever been. I guess it is a bit like Jesus as stated in Isaiah, there is nothing by way of physical beauty that we should desire. But, there is a power here that draws us, just like there was and is a power in Jesus that draws us. I guess the specialness comes from the fact that God, the Creator has chosen this location and there is such a spiritual battle that takes place here. I am hooked.
