Sanctuary

Sanctuary96

Hebrews 9:1-3 Then indeed, even the first covenant had ordinances of divine service and the earthly sanctuary.  For a tabernacle was prepared: the first part, in which was the lampstand, the table, and the showbread, which is called the sanctuary; and behind the second veil, the part of the tabernacle which is called the Holiest of All

As I read this in the morning, I immediately had the impression that we are designed somewhat similar. There is the flesh and blood part of us that is designed to operate in conjunction with a material world around us then there are the inner workings of the mind and spiritual heart where our secret thoughts reside behind that second veil. The thing that most of us forget is that the Creator is very aware of that inner man and all our thoughts and intents which lie behind that second veil.

That flesh and blood person that we are on the outside can look very much different than that spiritual inner man. I think of the story, “The Portrait of Dorian Gray”, how the painting always showed the inner man and the flesh and blood person looked so good and honorable all the time. I have a feeling that our Creator wants to do some restoration work on the portrait of our inner man.
