1 John 2:16-17 all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the pride of life, is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world passes away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.
We had the very same scenario in the Garden some six thousand years ago which got this world into the same kind trouble that we see today. How was Eve tempted by that serpent? The fruit on the tree was “good for food, pleasing to the eye and it would make one wise,” and even Yeshua was tempted in the same way on the wilderness experience after His baptism. And, what do we see in the world today everywhere but a pride of life, greed, and the need for power and supremacy. The devil plays the same tricks all the time, steal, kill and destroy. There is a better way, and that way is the way of love, not lust but love.
This image that I saw yesterday spray painted on a cement wall in Jerusalem, Israel just broke my heart as it is breaking the hearts of children all over the world. The world without the God of Creation, is poor, blind and naked and is totally unaware, it has fallen so far from the Garden that the memory of it is nearly extinct.
