“Like – Us”

one of us

Genesis 3:22 Then the Lord God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of Us

Once Adam and Eve ate from the tree of the knowledge of Good and Evil, they had become aware of many things which they had not been aware of until that moment; things that obviously this Entity of the Godhead already was aware of.  We are aware from scripture that God is a Spirit and obviously He can manifest in the natural or physical world in other forms such as fire as in the Moses and the burning bush episode.

What has been bothering me is the wording in Genesis one and three of God being “US”. And as I read this passage this morning, it just jumped out at me again, “like one of Us”. I fully understand the concept of myself being like God with a body, a soul and a spirit that we, us, are made up of these different parts but when I have a child, I am not going to say, look, he is like one of me, I am going to say, look what we have begotten because it is the result of myself and my wife that have begotten the child and he is like one of “us”. “We” are two separate personalities with one mind that have joined ourselves together to conceive a child. I suppose at that point, we become one as the word says but “we” are still two entities. Thus I am still looking at the Godhead as several beings with one common mindset to create and watch over us. Am I making any sense or am I off my rocker so to speak? If anyone has any thoughts or care to give me any feedback, please feel free, I am open to listening.

“Let Us Make Man in Our Image”

Genesis 1:26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness;

 As I read my bible this morning, I was struck by the words in John 17:11 “That they may be one even as we are one”. I know that Yeshua was talking about His disciples at that moment in time as He prayed just before His arrest and crucifixion. As I read that, I immediately saw the Godhead as a body of beings with one mindset, in complete and utter unity. Thus all the other scriptures regarding the God of Creation, I begin to see as depicting the Godhead of Elohim being, YHVH, Yeshua and the Holy Spirit, three separate beings totally united in goal and purpose therefor being one entity. They are beings which we cannot see as they reside in the unseen realm that is all around us. This unseen realm of beings, both good and bad, angels and demons can be understood like radio waves or television signals, they are all around us but without the proper equipment, we can neither see nor hear them. There is one very good example of this unseen realm in 2 Kings 6:12-17 “No, my lord, O king; but Elisha, the prophet who is in Israel, tells the king of Israel the words that you speak in your bedroom.” So he said, “Go and see where he is, that I may send and take him.” And it was told him, saying, “Behold, he is in Dothan.” 14 He sent horses and chariots and a great army there, and they came by night and surrounded the city. Now when the attendant of the man of God had risen early and gone out, behold, an army with horses and chariots was circling the city. And his servant said to him, “Alas, my master! What shall we do?” So he answered, “Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” Then Elisha prayed and said, “O Lord, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.” And the Lord opened the servant’s eyes and he saw; and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.

These words, “That they may be one as we are one” just embedded themselves in my spirit. For me, it’s a bit like all of the employees of a factory working together in unity to produce a product. Only in the Godhead, they are united totally on the one and only thought, us, and how to interact with each of us on an individual basis to cause us to want more than anything else, fellowship with them in their utopian kingdom.

I certainly am not trying to be irreligious about this Creator God who I am dedicated to following as His Word is of ultimate importance in my life as it does lead to life here and now and everlasting in a Heavenly Kingdom.

*I am putting this up as possibilities and I welcome all who might like to comment, Thanks

Genesis 1:27 God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created                          him; male and female He created them.

 Genesis 2:23-24 The man said, “This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh;                            she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.”                            For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be                            joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh.

 John 17:11 that they may be one even as We are.
