“Names”

Proverbs 22:1 A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, Loving favor rather than silver and gold.

When I was born, my earthly father gave me the name Sherwood. This name actually means, ‘a clearing in the forest’. I have often thought of what that means in my life with God. I have thought many times that it was to clear away the debris of world opinion against the God of Creation and give some understanding to what it means to follow after Him. Thus I have seen, as I look back, that that is exactly what I have been doing in the last few years here in this blog. (Incidentally, I hate that name, blog, for what it is that we write) To continue, recently, I was at a meeting where a group of folks had come from the States and were about to pray over some of us individually. I was selected as one and the couple prayed and then one of them said, I have just been told your spiritual name, it is, “Sequoia”. (A sequoia is a very tall tree) As I have prayed about this and sought God about this name, I keep coming up with this picture in my mind of a tall sequoia tree in the midst of a clearing in the forest. The image I have selected for this article is as close to what I have visualized as I can find. But to go one step further, I feel the Lord is giving me a different spelling og my spiritual name, “Seqoiyah” and I like that a lot as it puts me in connection with the Great “I AM”. Thank you Father.

The Artist’s Signature

Colossians 1:15-17 (MSG) We look at this Son and see the God who cannot be seen. We look at this Son and see God’s original purpose in everything created. For everything, absolutely everything, above and below, visible and invisible, rank after rank after rank of angels—everything got started in him and finds its purpose in him. He was there before any of it came into existence and holds it all together right up to this moment.

I heard a Rabbi yesterday talking about God’s signature which He has put inside each and every person. As I listened, he made a very convincing case that the two strands of the DNA coil are held together by a kind of ladder arrangement. The ladder rungs are spaced quite uniquely to tie this whole system together. The coils are made up of what are called nucleotides. The ladder rungs are spaced, first at the 10^th nucleotide then up to the 5^th then up to the 6^th and then up to the 5^th again and this sequence continues throughout the DNA strand. In the Hebrew, each letter of the alphabet has a number, 10 is “Y” 5is “H” 6 is “V” and 5 again is “H”. This sequence just happens to be the Creators name, YHVH. Thus every person has God’s signature inside of them.

Yet another astounding fact is that Yeshua has also put His signature inside each one of us in the form of a protein called Laminin which is a cell adhesion molecule which holds everything in our bodies together. Everything in our bodies stays where it supposed to be because of this molecule. Skin stays tightly glued to the body also because of this molecule. The picture shows what the structure of this molecule looks like.

Jacob – Israel

Genesis 32:28 And He said, “Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel; for you have struggled with God and with men, and have prevailed.”

So here we see the reason behind the name change, God is Spirit and those who worship Him must do so in Spirit and in truth. And once his name had been changed, he became the recipient of all that would go with that amount of Spiritual dimension he was willing to accept and receive. It is the same for all of us today. In the book of revelation, it states that if one overcomes this world “I will write on him My new name.”

At the time when God came to earth in the person of Yeshua, He explained these truths to us since, for the most part, we had become hard of hearing and lacking in understanding. He made this very clear to a member of the religious order as He spoke of the Spiritual dimension of life. This Spiritual life is of utmost importance if one expects to understand this Creators desire to bring all into His dimension. There are pre-requisites for entrance and He set them out in the first five books of Moses. Without that heart of love and compassion, the doors will be closed to everlasting “life”. As set forth in Deuteronomy 30:19 I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live;
